Ford Capri 1.6 Laser

Hello everyone, I've recently bought a lovely 1985 Capri Laser C951AVF and would love to know how it got to be in such great condition. I bought the car from a chap in Northern France who sadly passed away before I collected the car so I didn't get chance to find out. Any information would be greatly appreciated .
